Welcome To Beginnings!
Beginnings Inc. is an educational and community service organization in the rural town of Briceland, in Humboldt County, California. Our mission is to "support and encourage community services." Beginnings is community-based and guided by its membership. The board oversees the land and property, the use and maintenance of the roads, gardens, water system, and orchards. They also set policy to fullfill long range planning and organizational objectives as well as assisting the workgoups achieve their goals.
History
Children’s House opened its doors in September
1973. In 1974 a group of community members came
together interested in forming a community center
and educational alternative for
young families and created
Beginnings Inc. The Briceland
property was found and purchased
in 1977. The Octagon was
constructed between 1977-1979;
Children’s House 1981; Skyfish
1984; and the Yin Yang Pavilion
in 1988. The Beginnings Board
meets monthly and minutes for
the past 30 years are on file in
the office.
